With time on my hands and most of my fellow passengers uninterested in conversation, I took to speaking with one of the House Orien attendants who cater to the various needs of their customers.
Grass Swiftfoot, a Longstride Shifter, left his home in the Eldeen Reaches due to a powerful wanderlust. He signed on to work for House Orien to earn his livelihood and, after four more years of service, he will have earned enough to pay his tuition to Morgrave University where he hopes to become a Wayfinder.
His life's dream is to someday make the perilous trip to the continent of Xen'drik, hoping to explore its dangerous wilds and bring back riches and artifacts to be displayed in the City of Towers.
We spoke of the rumors we've both heard about the drow, the terrible dinosaurs of the continent, the Traveler's Curse and its possible causes, the ruins of the ancient giants, and the dangers the lurk in the deep jungles. While I spoke of them in an academic sense, Grass spoke with wonder and desire in his voice. He spoke of his desires to explore and face these dangers head on, to conquer his fears and return victorious (and possibly rich!) from that perilous place on the edge of the world.
This writer wishes Grass much luck on his journeys and may the Host watch over all those who wander beyond the Corners of Khorvaire.
