Graywall, 16 Eyre

Frontier life requires innovative solutions in the Corners of Khorvaire.

After several days riding alone on the road, I was glad to reach the civilization of the city of Graywall on the eastern reaches of Droaam. Make no mistake, dear readers, Graywall is civilization despite what some may think.

As I browsed the Roar while shopping for a gift for a respected colleague, I overheard two guul'dar discussing the odds in an upcoming competition at Graywall's famous (or infamous) Arena.

Though I would never attend the blood sports the Arena is renowned for, the competition the two soldiers were discussing was a fascinating one that I had to see to believe.

Several tribes of minotaurs had received permission from the Daughters of Sora Kell to establish new homesteads in the territory between Turakbar's Fist and Grimstone Keep. Trouble had arisen when there was heated disagreement over which tribe had claim to which parcels of land and they'd turned to Lord Mayor Xor'chylic for help resolving the dispute.

His Honour's solution was, needless to say, ingenious.

The celebrated Arena of Graywall was refitted so that, instead of sand and blood, a maze of stone and wood overtook the floor of the Arena. The rules were simple: Each tribe was to put forth a team of maze runners who would be blindfolded for the construction of the maze. On the day of the competition, each team would be given three minutes on a raised platform to study the layout of the maze. The team would then run the maze as quickly as possible and the parcels of land would be rewarded based on team performance.

Eminently fair and (mostly) bloodless!

Everyone in Graywall was excited for the event! From the ogre stonelifters, the ghaal'dar carpenters, and even the kobold trap designers of Sar Kuraath. Every resident of Graywall got to be a part of the action.

Word is that His Honour is even considering making the event an annual competition to rival the City of Tower's Race of the Eight Winds!

Congratulations to those who challenge themselves in order to get a better life in the Corners of Khorvaire.
