Is it hot enough for you in the Corners of Khorvaire?
Summer has come to the City of Towers and all of its citizens are looking for ways to beat the surprisingly oppressive heatwave that has beset the normally breezy streets of Sharn.
But, as they say, the Sarlonan word for “crisis” is also the word for “opportunity”. At least it is, according to the students of Morgrave University living in the Ivy Towers district of Sharn.
A competition of sorts has broken out between the various departments and classes over who can cool off the passersby on campus in the most quantity using the waters of the fountains of that august institution.
The displays are truly amazing as well as a welcome balm against the heat to the crowds who now gather daily in their light summer wear to see the latest student escapades.
Various techniques have been employed. Telekinetic magics are highly popular and are judged on the shape and movement the water takes before dropping with a splash on the throng below. The artificer students were able to work out how to alter the pressures of the fountains causing them to build up and spray waves of water to the grateful citizens surrounding them.
The authoritative leader in the competition, however, was an enterprising writer (and kudos to them!) who published a flyer and distributed it urging people that when the University tower struck three bells to simply enter the waters of the fountains en masse. Swimming and cavorting, the collected peoples overwhelmed the fountains until nary an open spot of water could be seen.
I'm not ashamed to say that this humble writer was among them, “surfing” the crowd as they say.
